French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

Melding form with function, French-door refrigerators offer elegant double doors that open up to a spacious fridge up top and freezer drawer below. Special features such as through-the-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines, and customizable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. They weighed the capacity of storage as well as layout, energy efficiency, and other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

As the name suggests, the GE Profile series is targeted at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies in their kitchen. This fridge has them all including a Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a sophisticated dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator costs a premium, I expect better.

This fridge is a good choice, despite the blip. It boasts a spacious freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door fridges, and it holds a fair amount of frozen foods as compared to similar models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is standard for a fridge with a french door fridge ice maker door at this price. It has a decent sized freezer in the left side. But, it's not the largest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to make the perfect storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is stylish, too. Its LED lighting is a nice feature and the storage bins have a third shelf that folds up beneath itself to make it possible to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the textured plastic coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi as well as app support, and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also offers numerous options for customizing. It also sends you notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the fridge or freezer requires defrosting, and when the filter needs to be changed.

It is nice it GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is a feature available in a handful of GE refrigerators that allows users to set how many cups they want to dispense. The fridge displays a countdown to display how much water is left however it's not as effective as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that helps keep vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and dual compressors to ensure the best food preservation. The Ice maker is among the top we've tested and produces a pyramid-shaped ice that is low in water usage. This fridge is ideal for a single household or kitchenette that needs a built-in appearance and top-of-the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the most efficient in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated by more than a fraction, this is crucial to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, achieving the desired initial set temperature within an hour and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our testing.

Bosch is known for its premium appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is pricey and has great features and functionality at a fair price.

While the fridge is an incredible piece of equipment but it's important to be aware of the limitations. You might need to be creative with tall objects because the fridge has a limited shelf space. Also, the shelves are not impervious to sprills and could be damaged or stained by sharp objects. The trays are easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they should be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth french style fridge freezer with water and ice dispenser Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great option for those who require a lot of space in the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized door bins on each door and two rows of shelves that capture spills and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to make space for taller items. You'll also find a full width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker, making it simple to transfer ice when needed. The freezer also has thoughtful design features, like sliding drawers that can help you sort your things. It comes with a large bin to store frozen food items, and a separate bin for ice.

Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a great way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature what is the smallest french door refrigerator neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the efficiency of the fridge. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill food in this refrigerator than some of the others we tried. This is likely due to the bigger capacity.

The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. They have handles that are sunken on the front that allow smaller people to open them from the bottom, but they're not easy for taller people to steer shut without slamming them. It would have been better if these had front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal choice for those who want to combine the benefits of a fridge with a french door fridge sale door with an efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also less expensive than the best counter depth refrigerator with an icemaker, which makes it a great option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire french door style fridge door refrigerator is a good choice for those looking for a french style Fridge freezer non plumbed-door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It has a simple design that's not as striking in appearance as other models, but it has enough features to make it a solid pick. Its most notable feature is the adjustable temperature drawer that helps keep food items like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser, as well as an excellent ice maker that operates quickly.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits over the two crisper bins, is another excellent feature. The drawer lets you redirect the majority of the refrigerator's cooling power to this area, so that you can store foods that require special attention. You can alter the feature using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. It is also possible to use this to set a general cooling level for the whole fridge, however, I've found that changing the general settings tends have a better effect than specific ones.

The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator didn't vary much from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance, but it does not quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It is capable of removing streaks and fingerprints, even compared to glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
