Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it, and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade items components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the names of items. For example adding a Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from the previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The upgrade cost increases with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of those items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.

When an item is completed, it will be eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to be given affixes that increase its features. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's type. For instance, an uncommon or unique weapon with a base that is standard will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item level upgrade does not reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower success rate.

Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building with a known point, like a benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item upgrader mod. It is a very important aspect of the game and can boost an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.

In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd receive the stats most important to your build more frequently than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the item's power by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the better chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.

The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on an item. This is a great way to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. This is because rerolling could offer a quicker route to a more powerful character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game faster.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, contain none at all, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, others are not. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you own a lot of armor or weapons already.

Set items can be upgraded to include specific tools that are suitable for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to the level of the levels. For instance, the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the required items to upgrade it. It will show the item's attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
