Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

Item upgrade, commonly called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through a number of means such as using upgrade components as well as increasing an Best item upgrader's mark level or rarity. Additionally, many items can be reforged, which could increase their stats.

These upgrades change the name of the item and add an adjective, for example 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the noninscribable wands, foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate interest in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, which makes them more effective in communicating messages across language barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the recall of messages by creating an experience of familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could enhance a stat in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This isn't the actual amount by which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can do so.
