Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying on large-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear.

Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus on the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the things that make your weapons and armor better. You can locate them by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma sellers or finding them in items-spheres. You can also get them from equipment that contains the components, or by utilizing high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed by removing them from an item.

Upgrade components are primarily used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other purposes. They can be stacked to increase the level of an upgradeable item or they can be used to increase the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be forged to give extra bonuses.
