1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using a grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can activate spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync, possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However the code will not appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test because there are various pins on the connector, and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when it is operating at its maximum. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine without sparks, the three that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I got zero Ohm. So i assume the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car key cover audi is able to start if the G28 is disconnected and runs fine when it is plugged in however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows temperatures of -49c. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find an extra in a wrecking shop or parts store. 4. ECU
